About MixPerfect Radio
The beginning
My name is Martin Verlaan, and my journey with music began in the early 1980s when I first became captivated by Italo Disco and synthesizer-driven sounds. That era had a unique energy — futuristic, emotional, and full of discovery — and it immediately stuck with me.
Discovering a world of mixes
Back then, I discovered a whole world of new music through mixtapes and DJ compilations such as Italo Boot Mixes, Max Mixes, Disco Breaks, and many others. These mixes became my gateway to expanding my record collection, and at the same time, they sparked something new in me: a growing passion for mixing itself.
From DJ mixes to digital production
In 1995, a friend introduced me to something that would change everything — mixing music on a computer. The idea of creating perfectly blended transitions with digital precision instantly fascinated me. I was completely hooked. From that moment on, I began producing mixes for local radio stations and record companies, building experience and refining my style over the years. You can find some of my work on Discogs.
Programming meets music
Alongside music, I have always had another passion: programming. At some point, it felt natural to combine these two worlds. I started developing a personal hobby project — software that could automatically create and play seamless mixes. That project eventually became MixPerfect Player.
Once I added the ability to generate an endless, continuous mix, a new idea emerged: why not turn this into a non-stop radio station? A station that never stops, always mixing, always flowing — powered by software, but driven by passion. That’s where everything came together: Italo Disco, programming, and mixing.
Today
Today, MixPerfect Radio is the result of all those years of passion and experimentation — a continuous mix station built from decades of love for music and technology. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it.
